Get On Frequency

Three doors. Steam for the kit, Discord for the people, the server for the dirt. Walk through them in that order.

I. The Network, not a download folder

The kit is how you hear us. The Ruckersville Zombie Survivor Network is the county that is still on the air — a persistent world where settlements outlive a night’s sleep and reputations do not reset when you die. Discord is where the current frequency, the standing orders, and the people who already have a flag in the ground live.

Operator’s note Bookmark this page and the Discord. Workshop listings go stale; a living server does not. If a friend sends you only the Steam link, send them back here.

II. What you need

III. Subscribe (two minutes)

  1. Open the Workshop listing and click Subscribe.
  2. Launch Project Zomboid. Wait for the Workshop download to finish — the main menu will say so.
  3. Join the Network from Discord’s server-info channel (name, password, and any extra mods the box is running that week).
  4. On first connect, the game will prompt you to enable the server’s mod list. Say yes. Do not mix in a personal stack that the server did not ask for.
Caution — version lock Build 42 only. All content ships in the mod’s 42/ folder. If you are still on a 41 install, the Network cannot see you, and you cannot see it.

IV. Standing up your own box

The Network is one county on the air. The kit is not exclusive to it. If you are standing up your own box:

  1. Install the dedicated server for Build 42.
  2. Set Mods=RZSNCore (and the Workshop item ID in WorkshopItems=3778046420).
  3. Open sandbox. The RZSN pages — Settlements, Commerce, Dynamic Events, NPCs, Advanced — are all live. Defaults are playable. Tune after a week, not before the first night.
  4. Air drops need somewhere to land. The shipped defaults seed twelve town centres. If you blank both zone lists, drops will schedule and then vanish; the server log will tell you.

Every refusal Net Control issues includes a reason an operator can act on. If the window is dead and silent, the kit is stale. Update it and bring the box back up.

V. After you spawn

Do not found a settlement in the first twenty minutes. Read First Hours, pick an occupation that matches how you actually like to play, and walk until you have a reason to plant a flag. The dirt will still be there. The people you meet on the road might not.
